Poetry...
A little background...
First, may I take a moment to remind all who read the poetry listed within these pages are protected by copyright laws. While I decided to post my work on this site I've been building, I do not authorize any copies or reproduction of my work without my permission given in writing form, with the original retained by me and a copy sent to you attached to the work. If I should be so fortunate to have a publisher to stumble across my work contained here and be interested in publishing my works as an entire book (I'm at over 40 poems and counting), please feel free to contact me and discuss arrangements.
Now, with that said...
For the longest time I couldn't write a poem to save my life. I had tried on several occations, often required by teachers in classes taken. Being that I have an interest in writing, that happened on more than a couple occations. Then, somewhere around the time of fall 2002, events occurred in my life that decidedly changed things for me. While I don't really wish to discuss the events here, lets suffice to say it changed my writing style somewhat, and brought out a type of writing I never thought I would be able to write... poetry. It also had an impact on my storywriting as well, but my poetry has become work that I'm proud to share and often seems to almost bleed emotion. Emotion in the forms of hurt, sadness, pain and more.
As a result some of the poetry may come off as being rather strong. I am always willing to discuss my poetry with people. I believe that poetry can not only be a form of expression, but that it is also an art in the fact that it is open to interpretation by the reader. What was going through my mind at the time of creation may not be what the reader gets out of it, yet what the reader gets out of it may have application in their own life where my reasoning would not. As a result, I try to spark thought and discussion of ideas as to the reasoning behind a particular poem, but not give my reasoning as I don't believe it applies to everyone.
Poem of the month...
I plan to open for voting to select a poem of the month if enough interest can be sparked, though first I would like to get several poems posted, which may take awhile. Until I can get that all ready and set up, I will be picking poems from my collection and posting them in the slot below on a monthly basis. If things don't end up working out on my end where I can get them updated that often, then I may do something else like a poem of the year or whatever.
The Poem Of The Month!
Deep Despair
Deep down in the depths of despair,
Looking up towards the light,
But seeing nobody.
Nobody to help,
Nobody that understands,
Nobody reaching back down,
Towards my upstreached hands.
Nobody to help at all.
What could I have done to deserve this?
I keep slipping.
Sliding down deeper.
It’s like quicksand
The more I struggle against it,
The deeper I fall.
‘Till the light above is nothing
Nothing more than a pinprick
In a vast sky of darkness
What could I have done to deserve this?
